Construction work for the “Chinggis
Khaan Heritage and Cultural Institute” museum has started with Groundbreaking
Ceremony by Prime Minister Khurelsukh on April 2, 2020.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Khurelsukh.U,
Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Baatarbileg.Yo, Chair of the
newly-formed academic council, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Regdel.D,
The first president of Mongolia Ochirbat.P, academician Chuluun.S, other
officials and public figures.
During the ceremony Prime Minister Khurelsukh said: “Today
is a historical day for Mongolian people. Mongolian Government has had made a
significant decision in year of 2019 to build the “Chinggis Khaan” museum. Which
we are officially opening its establishment ground today, as it is a mid-spring
praised day.
The museum will be a complex of Mongolian history research,
training and enlightenment. It will also unveil unique cultural monuments and
the rich historical heritage of Mongolians around the world. It is important to
respect and cultivate the original history and culture".
At the ceremony, Director of Institute of History and
Ethnology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences /MAS/, academician Chuluun.S
delivered an address saying that the museum named in honor of Great Chinggis
Khaan will become a museum of statehood of Mongolian khans and noblemen.
Currently, there are more than 1,000 exhibits collected to
display at the museum’s 15 traditional and virtual exhibition halls, totaling
20.500 square meter. Lower floors of the 9-floor museum building will be used
as temporary exhibition halls to stage international and domestic exhibitions.
The Museum is planned to open for public by the second
quarter of 2021.
